Helping them get comfortable with the chair

Before we even reach for our equipment, we’ll chat to your child to get to know what they like (and, more importantly, don’t like).

Then, to make sure they’re completely comfortable, we let them ‘ride the chair’ for a little while.

(We’ve found that by letting children go up and down on the dentist chair for a while before the check-up, the act of getting into the chair becomes a fun experience, rather than intimidating one.)

But this is the bit they really love…

Once they’ve had their teeth checked or any work done, we take them over to our infamous Treasure Box – a Willy Wonka’s delight of sugar-free lollipops, lip glosses and toys – and let them choose their rewards.

Why do we do this?

We know that it might take a little longer to do this than a regular check-up, but we think it’s more than worth it.

Not only do your children learn to love coming to the dentist, but you create a positive association with dental health and hygiene that can last for the rest of their lives.

(Plus, we just really love working with kids.)
